How to Repair a Dead or Dying Acer Aspire 3100 Battery?

Are you looking for an effective way to restore your dead or dying Acer Aspire 3100 battery, without spending a fortune on a replacement online, or hiring a laptop technician? Laptop batteries fail for an array or reason. Although many malfunctions and ultimately die because of age related degradation, failure of one or more power cells, or the circuit board, hastens the deaths of millions of Acer battery packs worldwide. Replacing such defective parts can restore your battery to excellent working condition, and save you tens of dollars you would have otherwise spent on a replacement accessory. Consider the following steps to replace defective parts and restore your battery for Acer Aspire 3100 to working order.

Step one: uninstall the battery

Before you attempt to repair your damaged or dying battery for Acer Aspire 3100, uninstall all software, (mainly drivers) associated with the accessory. Do the following for best results: first, navigate to the control panel of your computer. You can go through the start and the control panel. You can also type control panel on the search dialogue on your laptop, and then double click the application discovered during the search. At the control panel of your laptop, navigate to the device manager, and then expand the batteries tree. Right click the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery sub tree and then uninstall the installed battery. Leave the Microsoft AC adapter and Microsoft Composite Battery sub tress as they are. Shut down your laptop, slide the latch that holds your battery in place, and remove it.

Step two: disassemble the battery

An Acer Aspire battery has two major components: an external plastic casing and an internal circuitry consisting of power cells, transformers, and circuit plates. To access the internal components of the accessory, you need to pry open the external casing. Buy a screwdriver or a blunt putty knife and use it to dislodge the corners of the casing of your battery. Take care not to sink the knife or screwdriver too deep into the accessory. You can damage essential internal components and the battery permanently.

Step three: document the battery

Battery for Acer Aspire 3100 packs are complex. If you are not an Acer computer technician, or has not repaired a laptop battery before, make sure that you document your battery using photos, and use them as a guide during re-assembly. You can buy or borrow a digital camera or use the camera on your phone.

Step four: test power cells

Remove and check all power cells in the Acer laptop battery for signs of damage. Look out for acid leaks or blowouts. You must also test all cells with uncharacteristic color changes, or those that are soft, to identify culprits. Remove all power cells that have problems and replace them with new/working ones.

Step five: re-assemble the battery

After you have identified damaged power cells in your Acer Aspire 3100 battery and replaced them with new ones, re-assemble the pack using the photographs you have taken in step two. Arrange power cells well. You must also solder all electrical components of the battery as required, before you seal the outer casing. Clean the battery well and re-install it in your laptop. You must then calibrate it using a working Acer Aspire 3100 adapter and check if the problem persists. Buy a replacement if the battery fails to work.
